Keitai Sousakan 7 #21 (SPOILERS)

I never post about this series and I really should because I’ve been watching it regularly for quite some time, however, now that I’m here, I’m not sure I really have anything to say. Does anyone else actually watch this show as well? If so, *talk* to me!

Episode #21 deals with a lot of the show’s back-story, highlighting the role of Takimoto and the Under ANCHOR staff one year before the first episode and two months after 01′s initial desertion. The real appeal for this kind of story is seeing Touko in a flowery dress and Chigusa with long hair the information that it yields about 01′s motives and the reasons for his antagonism.

I can’t help but feel that, despite his actions, 01 is not a bad guy, and I really believe that Takimoto felt this too. I’m pretty sure that this episode marks the beginning of something big for the show in terms of story development but it’s difficult to say what – this may all just be set up for events that won’t play out until a billion episodes in the future.

I must admit that I’d kind of gone off watching this until recently due to the silliness of episodes #19 – 20. I understand the concept and execution of the two part Out of Range Woman in terms of Miike’s other work but I thought that this story ran away with itself a little too much.

Hopefully now we’re back on track the show will continue to hold my attention.

Shinjuku Yakuza Violence

Suwa Taro (Coal Orugu) spotted in Miike Takashi’s Ryu ga Gotoku: Gekijo-ban, based on the Shenmue-powered SEGA franchise for the PlayStation 2.

Also some guy named Shioya Shun was in it. Some of you might know him.

Actually, if you’ve watched any Japanese films of TV shows made in the last 20 years or so, I guarantee someone from whatever you’ve watched will have been in this film, not least of all the mightly Aikawa Sho and Endo Kenichi.

The film also features one of the strangest possible Tokyo Drifter homages ever, and speaking of director Suzuki Seijun, should I ever find the words for it, remind me to talk to you about the Odagiri Jo/Zhang Ziyi ‘musical’ Operetta Tanuki Goten.

Sexual Tension without the Aid of Hats

Considering I’ve already made my life difficult by posting about Keitai Sousakan 7 in my other journal – a fact that is going to make me sigh when it comes to updating FAB tomorrow, I thought I’d go all out and make one of those famous cross-posts that I can throw at two journals at once and then feel bad for the handful of people who will see this post twice.

I can also waffle…like an idiot.

I seem to have a habit of attempting to ship any two female characters appearing in any series thus I have been rooting for a Mimasaka Chigusa x Asano Toko relationship regardless of Chigusa’s previous feelings for Takimoto (fandom fix number #1: Character X turns to Character Y for support) since pretty much the first episode.

With the introduction of the Under ANCHOR Tech staff, I inadvertently started shipping Sakaki Mutsuki x Kisaragi Sayaka x Kageyama Yayoi…because they all happened to be on the screen together.

Yet until recently (episode #16), I’ve tried to avoid pairing up Hasekura Mayuko with anyone because, well…she’s *my* Nao-chan. I always figured that if I was going to ship her with anyone it would be due to a crossover invasion by Furabijou (possibly with Oda Natsumi from Ultraman Max in tow) but the possibility of Chigusa/Mayuko in #16 kind of changes that.

So…now I’m in the precarious position of considering fic…yet Keitai is such a difficult to show for me to get a feel for in terms of what to do with plot notions. Sentai/toku fic is always tough when it comes to translating the Japanese structure of the show into stories in English, from an English language POV, about same sex canon breaking romance. In this case, I admit to being stumped thus for those of you that do watch Keitai, what I want…is your suggestions!

Give me something to kick start my head with this – a prompt, a suggestion, a possibility to make these pairings work…even if said suggestion basically boils down to Nono Nanami/Furabijou/Oda Natsumi/Hasekura Mayuko SEX romance. I can’t promise I’ll get anything done soon (said the culprit responsible for holding up the end of Summer of Rawk) but I *can* promise that I’ll write it…and that it will be ace (or at least mediocre-good).

So…that’s what I need from you, dear reader…

Now I just have to find someone who watches this show. (^_^);
